The Wedding Video

The Wedding Video is a 2012 comedy written by Tim Firth and directed by Nigel Cole. Presented in the "found footage" style, the film stars Rufus Hound, Lucy Punch and Robert Webb. It follows an engaged couple's best man as he creates a video documentary of their wedding.

WORTH WATCHING

Yeah I hear ya, sick of films about weddings. This one is not bad though, in fact it is a pretty funny film. Rufus Hound plays this guy, Raif who comes home after three years away to be his brother's (Robert Webb) best man, with the plan of making a film - a wedding video with a difference as his gift to the happy couple. Only when he discovers the gal he's marrying is Saskia Dutton, (Lucy Punch) Raif's high school obsession things start to get a little crazy.

It is shot in a home video style and the film takes the piss out of the wedding stereotype with characters like the over baring mother in law and bad tempered grand mother, played to perfection by Harriet Walter and Miriam Margoyles respectively in supporting roles.

This film is not going to break any box office records and the critics pretty much caned it but if you are looking for a fun romp of a film that will amuse young and old equally I think this is a good option. It is sort of the male equivalent to Bridesmaids.
