In November 2009, after a re-shuffle of the old company, Andrea Kaye re-opened the original flagship store of The Silk Trading Co. in its landmark location, 360 South La Brea, Los Angeles, CA. The retail showroom, found in the Deco styled building that was once apartments owned by Bing Crosby, is once again the flagship location for The Silk Trading Co.'s expansive brand.

DREAMY DRAPES

In 2009/10 all us design junkies had a nail biting time as Andrea Kay owner extraordinaire had to literally squat in her shop while she struggled to save her flagship store from recession. It was the last of a once 10 strong chain that included a Harrods, London concession in it's portfolio.

Thank God she held on and I was able to collect my latest order this afternoon.

Anyone out there passionate and I mean passionate about beautiful exquisite textiles has to visit the Silk Trading Company on La Brea and support. They have the largest selection of upholstery weight silks and silk blends I’ve found in South California. There are loads of wholesalers down town where the prices are likely much cheaper but you won’t find the selection and consistent quality all in one place. Or Andrea for that matter. She makes this store and has fought so hard to keep it open for us all.

Silk trading make custom drapes to order and the workmanship and service is magnificent, they are expensive but these home accents will add a touch of real class the any home. If you want the experience and product but custom is out of your budget you can also pick up something from a selection of ready made drapes, don’t think Penneys, these boxed pairs are of the highest quality, fully lined, weighted and so long they puddle even when tied back. The silk is so heavy it crackles and is soft to the touch, you’ll be addicted.

Silk Trading always have something new and exciting in stock. I swear I love this store. I cannot drive down La Brea without my car pulling over for a browsing break.
