Lady Gaga

My girlfriend is a big fan of Lady Gaga's music so not surprisingly she is often on repeat in the car and we did queue up at the BBC a couple of weeks ago to catch a glimpse of her as she arrived to host the breakfast show with Nick Grimshaw. The reason my respect for her grows is I actually believe she cares about people and the world before herself and for her, making her music is just what she does for her job. She says she hopes to make people happy, end of and strangely I believe her. I suppose when anyone starts out working on a dream fame can get in the way and a sensible grounded person can get swallowed up

& turn into an a***hole which is why in the most part I am not so

impressed with many in the public eye.

In her music career Lady Gaga has broken so many records there is a page "gagapedia" dedicated to this information but over the last 12 months she has appeared on my radar for other things, her support of her friend and musician Keisha as she brought a lawsuit against Dr. Luke and Sony alleging ongoing sexual harassment and abuse which Lada Gaga substantiated as common place in the business. Her Oscar nominated song, "Til it Happens to You" co written with Diane Warren for a documentary film "The Hunting Ground" highlighting and tackling the threat of sexual attack, campus rape in the USA put her front and centre with VP Joe Bidden highlighting issues close to her heart as a victim of abuse herself, we stayed up to watch her perform and it was so moving and emotional I took this shot off the TV.

She has been at the forefront of the equality debate, championing anti bullying and rights for the LGBT community and puts her money where her mouth is, all the time giving to the families of the Florida shootings, then to the Italian earthquake then putting her weight behind finding resolution for the Syrian conflict and she's only 29, younger than me.

And as if that is not enough bless her heart she followed me on Twitter. I wasn't following her, I'd just retweeted her a few times and given a few likes. I absolutely could not believe it. When I checked out a few names, global super star status, she was the only massive celebrity I could find who follows way more people than follow her back. As she said she's just like everybody else and that for me is what makes her so incredibly special. (FYI I did follow her back)
