Turtle Doves

I discovered Kate Holbrook and her company Turtle Doves at the Clothes Show on Birmingham a few years back and bought some lovely finger less gloves from her which she explained to me she had cleverly made from the sleeves of an old cashmere jumper.

I was blown away how she and her team of hand stitched based in Shropshire were taking disgarded cashmere sweaters and cardigans and breathing new life into them by producing absolutely lovely hats, scarves and gloves.

I paid about £20 for my gloves three years ago and because of the quality of the cashmere used, even upcycled they are still going strong.

I absolutely love supporting small ethical brands like Kate's, women in business doing something really positive and purposeful and giving new life to things we have been forced to throw away because of moths, elbows out or holes from wear and tear.

Knowing how hard it is to market a small brand it is important when we find companies like this we shout about them as it is these businesses that are providing local jobs and keeping real skills like fine hand stitching alive in rural areas when manufacturing industries have been desimated.
