It was noteworthy. More than noteworthy. I dread airplane food. I ALWAYS buy something before boarding, even if I am booked in business class.

I had to fly from London to Geneva early and boarded the flight last minute very hungry.

I was served the most delicious Tom Kerridge sandwich, the best thing I have ever eaten in a flight including in 1st or Upper.

Think what airplane food is normally like and think what you might be served at Claridges or The Ritz and you’ll understand my excitement.

The only disappointment for me, I cannot have another one until I fly again. Well done British Airways, you’ve found something that will keep people booking with you.

That sandwich.🥪

I drink the coffee, my next door neighbour has the big piece of kit, we both like nothing more than a chin wag, a smoke and a cup of Nespresso. If you are wondering it’s the coffee George Clooney advertises.

What so good about it.

Well it’s the coffee and the choice, 17 or 18 different capsule options, divided into three categories, Origins, (coffees from different regions, my favourite sits here Brazil, Creations (all the fancy flavours) and Classics, these are all the ones for the coffee afficienados, if you are looking for an 8, 9, or 10 on the Nespresso scale.

My Brazil is a 4.

So the neat machine will make you and espresso, a machiato, ristretto, expresso or lungo, I know you need the Babble app just to understand the pitch and they offer iced and milk recipes too.

A whole smorgasbord of cafe beverage options.

And in super quick time. You do need space in your kitchen to accommodate one as big as this, meant more for an office, or serving loads of people, my neighbour acquired his pride and joy when his business shut down and now keeps it in his man cave.

The cost is the tough bit, the machine investment for a professional one like this about £3000 and the coffee sachets or pods cost £20 for 50 which works out about 0.40 per cup. Cheaper than shop bought over time.

You can get one or two cup machines from about £180.

One thing I do like about Nespresso is the brand is able to control the quality and supply chain and reward coffee growers at source much more fairly.

Apparently they have been paying farmers 30% - 40% more than other coffee brands. Coffee is one of those businesses where the people who do most of the work get paid the least. Nespresso are changing things at source, a good reason for me to continue to enjoy it.
