I used to order from Poshmates all the time in LA, the food delivery service formed in 2011by Bastian Lehman, Sean Plaice and Sam Street, three San Francisco locals was personal and innovative, employing local friendly drivers and serving a network of really great food establishments.

When I was back in San Francisco this week for work I found myself bedded down in a hotel with no restaurant, long story so had to order in.

I picked the Magnin Street Cafe and Bistro close by, never eaten there before, a shot in the dark, 138 Cyril Magnin Street, less than 5 minutes away, hoping the food would arrive quick and in pretty good shape considering the distance. To be fair I could have easily have walked to pick it up but the streets around Tenderloin are not what they once were after dark.

I ordered deep fried olives and blue cheese dressing, never heard of them before never had them before and they were incredible. OMG the kind of thing that would make you want to return to the restaurant, something innovative and absolutely delicious, my only wish there were more of them. The linguine with marinara sauce with mushrooms, would have been equally delicious but arrived cold, not sure how with only a 5 minute journey, the accompanying salad arrived with no dressing and the pita bread to accompany the hummus was cold and hard too. Nothing wrong with the food, but the door to door delivery was clearly to blame. I waited 45 minutes for the food which was probably ready in 15. Should have picked it up myself. The 75 bucks wasn't worth it. Won't be using Poshmates or uber eats again.

That said the deep fried olives were so good I went for breakfast in person the next day to Magnin Street Cafe and Bistro. The restaurant is open every day from 7am to 3pm for breakfast and lunch and 5pm to 10pm for dinner.

It's a friendly family run place and only a few tables free when I arrived, always a good sign. I was told Cindy, front of house wasn't there, she'd been called away urgently to care for her mother so things weren't running quite as smoothly as usual, I thought it was a great welcome, personal and warm.

The atmosphere as great, the service a little haphazard, my guest didn't get what he ordered and that had to go back but my Huevos Rancheros where truly delicious, loaded down with japepenos, I had to remove a layer of clothing while eating, spicy and definitely worth returning for.

The scrambled egg sandwich is obviously a signature dish, perhaps why my friend got two, the first with bacon, the second without, when he ordered two rounds of scrambled eggs on wholewheat toast. It was two much energy to send the second plate back. I guess it's not the kind of place you can order off piste.

All in all the food at Magnin Street Cafe and Bistro was really good. The hot chocolate was piping hot and sweet and the coffee was worth recommending too. The bill for breakfast $56 for two so considerably cheaper than my dinner for one from Poshmates uber eats at $75

I will going back to Magnin Street Cafe and Bistro with one intention, for two orders of the deep fried olives and blue cheese dressing. I was assured they are very easy to make so we might even be having a go ourselves. They were really that good, exceptional as they were ingenious.

I friend of mine just invited me to her parents vacation rental in Park City and what a blast we had.

These are modern spacious one and two bedroom apartments purchased on a timeshare basis not sure what they cost, my friends mom and dad have had the place for years.

The best thing about this location, Summit watch is ski in ski off with unbelievable Mountain Views.

The jacuzzi was small and could do with an upgrade but the heated outdoor swimming pool is fantastic to dive into after a day on the slopes.

Every time I have been to Park City the conditions have been out of this world, you always get powder and this vacation rental accommodation provides everything you need including a piping hot sauna for relaxation.

The worst thing about skiing boarding is the hassle getting you and your kit on and off the slopes.

No issues here with this property.

One of the easiest and most convenient. Parking under the building so really easy access to Park City restaurants and bars for evening entertainment.

I just checked online to find out how much if you wanted to stay and I couldn’t find availability until April and it was about $450 bucks a night for Marriott members non refundable non changeable.

A pretty good deal for what you get. The location is excellent.

The property is older and classed as a three star. I’ve stayed a few times and the pool is small and the jacuzzi whilst functional is the one thing that needs an upgrade. If you don’t want the whole self catering apartment you can just book a room for around $125 bucks:

Your day pass for Park City is a staggering $328. By booking early at least 7 days in advance you can get it for $288 which I know is still a lot. Boarding is expensive.

Community moderation of social media is the latest thing and it’s been happening here on Poopsnoop since the beginning.

I actually couldn’t believe my eyes when I read this in the New York Times this morning.

I have a great deal of respect for Stuart A Thompson , Stuart Thompson who covers the spread of false and misleading information online, something the community here on Poopsnoop are extremely passionate about.

Meta is the worlds largest social media platform and the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and Whatapp. It is predicted to account for nearly 63% of global social media ad spend in 2025.

And I don’t know about you but I find all the global ad spend going to one company really scary.

Even scarier the Meta stats don’t even touch the sides when it comes to the amount of money spent on Google ads.

Personally I am very happy excited to see Facebook like Poopsnoop moving to community moderation.

As someone who has NEVER had a Facebook account it will be interesting to see if trust can be rebuilt after posts have been habitually moderated by AI, algorithms, bots, accounts closed without warning and one way communication when anything goes wrong. I read some stats that said 15% of Instagram users in the states had had their accounts hacked and never got the back.

I think advertisers will continue to use Facebook, Instagram, what’s app because they simply don’t know what else to do but as the return on investment plummets and users move to more ethical and trustworthy platforms, the idea of us doing the work to keep Facebook squeaky clean and fact checked for free, I think they are dreaming. Better to be a super snooper on Poopsnoop and get paid, makes more sense.

There are two in the beach cities, the one in Manhattan is near The Kettle, on 1300 Highland Ave. I prefer the bigger one on the strand in Hermosa. We go all the time after playing volleyball. It’s next to the famed Poopdeck, hole in the wall, drinking hole except more children.

It’s a beach restaurant, kid friendly, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, not the kind of place I’d eat late. It closes around 2pm I think, maybe 3pm at the weekend.

The food is all American, pancakes, eggs, waffles, the usual for breakfast and then if you like Sloopys in Manhattan this is a similar menu, burgers, Chinese chicken salad, cobb salad is what I always have and a chocolate milkshake.

Dress code is beach, so anything goes on the patio, shoes are required inside.

Located on the strand best to walk or cycle but plenty of parking close by in Hermosa.

When you've had something on the menu for over 25 years you know it's working. My folks had a walk st beach cottage when I was a kid so I've been frequenting the local eateries for years. The local yolk is probably my favourite breakfast brunch joint closely followed by Uncle Bills.

I always order the same thing, eggs over easy, the jalapeno hash, like they say you cannot get it anywhere else so whenever in Manhattan these days I stop by.

Firm family favourite. It’s just down from Sloopys on Highland between Marine and Sepulveda. Light bright and quick.

We go for the food but you never know who might be in there, we’ve had a few celebrity sightings, Tiger Woods, I have been quite a bit over the years and it’s not surprising really, lots a celebrities have homes at the beach and they would gravitate to the best food.

Check it out if you happen to be in the neighbourhood. Awesome place.

I remember seeing the close of filming, the wrap of the new series of Curb Your Enthusiam, if I had to choose a favourite TV show ever it has to be this. Yes I know Cosmo Kramer from Seinfeld is probably the 2 funniest man on TV, another creation from the genius that is Larry David.

It doesn’t happen to me very often but this morning I enjoyed a hearty belly laugh, guttural roar after watching Larry tell us on on Instagram about his upcoming Live tour this fall.

It was interesting to me seeing Larry’s co stars one by one acknowledge his talent not in a psychophantic way but in a genuine with real gratitude way, like they couldn’t believe their luck being involved in such a brilliant collaboration with a true Hollywood talent and legend.

I love a live show. I went to see Jason Alexander in Pasadena years ago and I cannot wait to see Mr. Larry David in person in San Francisco next month.

Bill Graham Autorium, 7.30pm 14th October, 2024.

I have no idea what The tickets are going to cost me $100 or more I guess, but it’ll be worth every penny. Already laughing so hard just thinking about laughing so hard.

This is going to be so oversubscribed the presale starts in 5 hours on ticketmaster. Never tried to get tickets like this before. Wish me luck.

You can find him @curbyourlarrydavid on instagram

As a Latino I have pretty thick hair, some salt and pepper that is not that shiny.

I am not that mousse, gel, hair guy that spends ages getting ready, more down the beach, surfer hair my girlfriend nags about.

So she got me to try this spray after I was my hair. I was not convinced. The smell is not feminine which is the first plus, smells more botanical than perfume which works for me.

The one thing about this stuff is it makes your hair shine. I am in my late thirties so my hair is thick but not the texture it was when I was younger.

I spray about two to four sprays and then just run it through my hair with my hands and leave it.

It helps control and my wavy curls, don’t look frizzy - girlfriend happy; check.

Cost guys is the issue at over 20 bucks. I don’t use very much to be fair each time so does last.

Incidentally don’t follow me for hair advice. It’s the only branded product I have ever used.

Shampoo and conditioner couldn’t even tell you, generic I’d say.

I know the website only ships in the US although you can sometimes find it cheaper on Amazon.

WANNA LAUGH UNTIL YOUR BELLY ACHES?

Hey there you guys. I may be preaching to the choir here about the ACME, I love it so much I feel sure the whole world knows about it, this little unpretentious 99 seat joint that used to be a Synagogue once upon a time. The comedy club, you can barely see from the street has been turning out the likes of Wayne Brady and Drew Carey What's My Line Stars and later Emmy winners. I've seen them so many times I feel real up close and personal ya know. This place is extremely cool, Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks watched Nia Vardalos perform a once little known one man show My Big Fat Greek Wedding here and anywhere in this in the toilet economy that gives great laughs for 10 bucks rocks in my mind.

In LA where most things are still all about de money this place is a school for stand up, the home to a host of improv troupes and anyone with a dream can hire it out to produce their own TV show. (fully equipped for high quality filming)

I frequent this unaustere venue one a month, at least and the guys all chip in for a pizza at Amalfi next door after the show where the jazz is awesome-the place has Nat King Cole history so the rumours go.

The Friday shows, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm are usually sold out so buy tickets ahead of time online at the website and prepare to laugh out loud big style.

If you don't love it you can all kill me:) NOT

ESSENTIAL READ FOR ABSOLUTELY ANYONE IN BUSINESS

I took description, the pitch for the book from the author, Ken Blanchard's website and when I read it, I admit it does sound like hype. We Americans can have a tendency to go a little over the top but I'll say before I start this review, the pitch is fair because the book is excellent and I am in no way affiliated with the author.

I didn't know what to expect from this book when my boss suggested I read it. It rocked. And I am so glad I did. I learned so much about how to improve my performance and get more out of the people I work with as well as tools to genuinely improve my relationships with my clients.

I have read quite a few of the more business 101 books but this one is like no other and extremely memorable.

I loved experiencing the workplace of the squirrel, the beaver and the goose, sounds weird I know but all will make sense. I couldn't put this one down and this was one work assignment I was sad to finish.

Great work. Loved it. Yeah.
