Sunset Boulevard

This is my all time favorite black and white movie which I have watched at least 2o times over the years.

This dark tragic story is set in the 50s Hollywood movie days and focuses around the lead character Norma Desmond, a silent-screen goddess whose delusional belief in her own indestructibility turnes her into a demented recluse in a large house with her man servant.

The falling to bits Sunset Boulevard mansion where she lives with only her butler, Max who was once her director and husband has become her self-contained world as Norma dreams of a comeback to the movie world.

When Norma begins a relationship with Joe Gillis, a small-time writer who becomes her lover to fund his lifestyle, it all ends with murder and total madness. This Black and white movie is perfect gripping drama that keeps you fixated on Norma Desmond and tells the true tale and backstory of what happens in Hollywood when you are well and truly past it.
