Great Bowden

First things first. Monday to Friday 2 for 1 cocktails between 3pm and 6pm.

This country pub in the heart of beautiful picturesque Great Bowden, recently under went a complete make over and it’s a mix of eclectic art on the walls and reclaimed furniture, roaring fires and warm hospitality come together to make this a good place to check out for a casual dining experience.

The outside patio is huge and I understand they hire it out for events.

I decided to go as I saw it used on a TV dating show and the food did look pretty delicious.

They do say on their website they pride themselves on their locally sourced meat so not surprisingly

I found the veggie choices lacking. If you are meat free or plant based and you don’t want pizza (which was tasty) there isn’t much choice.

The salad we ordered was tasty, interesting and fresh but sadly way over dressed and heavily loaded with garlic.

I’d say definitely more a pub scene than a restaurant.

The staff were excellent, warm, attentive and hospitable so if you are a meat eater, looking for a quick lunch or dinner in cool surrounding with good music and great service this is one definitely to try.

The wine we ordered was OK, the Malbec again not a massive choice and the price was fair. Would definitely go back with a couple more veggie vegan choices.

I did go a couple of months ago when they had just reopened so the menu could well have been extended by now.
