STYLISTICALLY UNBEATABLE FILM

If you haven’t seen Tom Ford’s writing and directorial debut and love cinema you need to stream it immediately. This flick oozes style not surprisingly. Colin Firth’s storming performance as a gay university professor in 1960’s America when homosexuality was prohibited, a criminal offence keeps the viewer deeply rooted in the journey of a man unable to cope day to day. The story explores the guttural and debilitating loneliness and depression he endures after his much younger partner is killed in an accident and Ford skilfully and subtly shows the cruel prejudice of his lover’s family as he is excluded ignored and unrecognised as being part of the dead man’s life.

I thought the script was incredible and Nicholas Hoult (About a boy) plays a brilliant new love interest for the reclusive Firth character. The most beautifully mesmerizing part of this production is the immaculate period sets, costumes and the sheer swagger of all the characters.

Julianne Moore plays a blinder as a desperate drunken best friend in love with Colin Firth despite his preference for blokes.

This film is rich and Tom Ford should have been nominated for the Oscar for Best Director and Best Film in my view. Firth got the Bafta for Best Actor but not enough recognition in my view.

Poor award showing doesn’t take away from how absolutely bloody great this film is on so many levels including an out of left field ending twist.

It is triumph for Ford and shows his creativity at top of his game extending way further than couture fashion.

Can't beat a Gucci suit.....yeah right like I'd know. Looks good on Colin Firth though, at least working with Tom Ford he knew he'd get a good suit thrown in for the red carpet.

Being the opposite of cool I own my weirdness. In a big bang theory kinda way. Not especially brainy definitely not especially good looking as my mother tells me I’ve got a good sense of humour and girls like that.i like tech, gaming, all sports and old music.
