ASOS fast fashion platform

Have you ever had the gratifying experience of discovering a fantastic independent brand or vintage boutique before anybody else? At least ASOS Marketplace established this in 2010 and that is something good in the unsustainable world of fast fashion. I love the fact they have a vintage section because this will be the future for fashion plus they have stopped the overwhelming return policy which is also very good.

ASOS also say they take seriously their commitment to ensuring that all workers in their worldwide supply chain are safe and that their rights are upheld. They say they hold their suppliers to a high standard of ethics and assist them in doing so. Transparency, raising pay, promoting health and safety, addressing and lowering the hazards of modern slavery, and spotting and preventing child labour are among their key goals. This is all very good and hopefully they are setting a good example to the rest of the fast fashion world.

I am not a lover of fast fashion myself because I would rather invest in something that is timeless and made to last. I love quality textiles and unique looks, only ever buying recycled, when I can. I can see that ASOS would be an attractive market place for the young woman of today because of the vast choices offered on there but it still allows people to buy, wear once, and then throw away into landfill. Personally, I would like to see less because less, is always more.

They have a Paralympics GB partnership, creating bespoke collections that meet the athletes’ needs, as well as making them look and feel great, which is a plus to them for that.

It seems ASOS are trying to brand out from the crowd and do good but I have a problem with all fast fashion, to me, it is cheap and unnecessary today.

I love good food, books and films that tell a true story behind them. I love affordable luxury and making brands accountable and more transparent. I love all kinds of music, including Rock, Opera, R&B and classical. When I travel 5 star, it has to be 5 star, including good food, comfort, good sheets and no kids in the pool. I love well made clothes and hate fast disposable fashion. I am well travelled and my favourite places include Marbella, Portofino, St Tropez, LA and Paris.
