When you first set foot within its welcoming embrace, the warm, wooden shelves, laden with bottles that cover many vineyards across the Globe, that guide you through the selection with the finesse of a maître d' at a Michelin-starred restaurant, yet their demeanour is as comfortable as your favourite armchair at home.

For a momentous 60th birthday, my quest for the perfect libation to toast a life well-lived came with the help from this little shop because of all the choices, from robust reds that resonate with the warmth of a Tuscan summer to crisp whites that capture the essence of a Provence afternoon. Each wine is a sonnet to a bygone year, a liquid time capsule that holds the promise of memories yet to be made. You can ponder over the labels, letting the names of distant vineyards roll off your tongue like an incantation. The Man helping me buy the wines for this important celebration was very knowledgably, listened to needs and helped me decide based on my budget.

I love a good wine shop because there is nothing more exciting than finding something new and delicious to present to your guests and this wine merchant made my experience really great.

I have also discovered they do wine tastings every month plus I had to find a unique expensive rum for a client and the Man who helped with the wine produced the perfect answer to my gift dilemma. He found me a rare white rum that was hard to find anywhere else, so he went the extra mile to help me, the best thing in my mind about supporting independent shops, you get better treatment and good advice. The chosen wine was a massive hit!
