02 August 2024 Briar Black 87 Hotels & Travel Butterfly Beach Hotel A slice of Barbadian paradise Think Barbados is only for the super wealthy. My wife and I stayed at Butterfly Beach for two weeks in May, when the weather can be changeable, start of the hurricane season, the prices were very reasonable we love to be on the island but of late the west coast of the island where you’ll find the more famous hotels like The Royal Pavillion and Sandy Lane. are too expensive for us.Butterfly beach is on the south side of the island, near Christchurch so not as easy access to Bridgetown, the west coast famous spots like Mullins Bar where you might spot a celebrity and the big new luxury shopping mall but the bus service is good and a definite experience, even if it takes a little longer. We like to take the bus. You really get to feel island life if you can handle no air conditioning. The hotel is 3 star, clean and basic but better than a back packers joint. The staff are wonderful, it’s Barbados, if a little slow paced, American’s will find that wherever you go on the island.very relaxed and chilled. The setting is absolutely spectacular for anyone who is willing to compromise on luxury accommodation to enjoy everything else spectacular Barbados offers. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis which worked perfectly. Sunbathing, beach walks, snorkeling water skiing all right there, we even spied an amazing beach cottage for rent next door if we want to return and do the same vacation on an even tighter budget.I’ve visited Barbados a few times and stayed in self catering accommodation right through to 5 star and if you can get over the snobbery and convenience of where you are on the island Butterfly Beach hotel is a very special place where you get somuch more for your money. If you are looking for night life, beach parties and busy vines swerve this spot. More of a quiet understated paradise. The food was simple but perfectly satisfactory and the pool bar serves cocktails and sandwiches throughout the day. I am sure we will return again.
