Selfridges Birmingham

Large iconic department store

Selfridges Birmingham

Selfridges Birmingham, where retail meets imagination! This is not your average shopping destination; it's a vibrant hub that beats with the pulse of creativity and innovation. As you step through its iconic doors, you're invited to embark on a journey that goes beyond mere shopping. It's an adventure where luxury, entertainment, and sustainability coexist harmoniously. Well, this is what Mr Selfridge set out to achieve once upon a time and for a long time it was true. Today things are not so perfect as it has become more like a property investment hub, where any old brand can rent a space to showcase their goods.

You could once Picture a sprawling emporium of the finest brands, a candy-coloured kaleidoscope of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle products that whisper sweet nothings to your soul. Selfridges Birmingham is a fashionista's paradise, with a dazzling array of designer collections and high-street favourites, all dressed up and waiting to be discovered but in my opinion, the offering in fashion has gone downhill.

This place is a social hotspot to gather with your friends and make your way to one of the fabulous in-store restaurants or bars. Whether you're in the mood for a tasty Italian bite at Fumo or sushi late afternoon, the food and beverage offerings are very good. The food hall is pretty impressive offering a variety of tasty treats, teas and sweets. I also quite like the beauty and make up offering, as well as the wide selection of perfumes and body products.

But Selfridges Birmingham isn't just about looking good and feeling good. It's also about doing good. With a strong commitment to sustainability, you'll find planet-friendly services and products at every turn. From refillable beauty stations to the latest in eco-conscious fashion, this place makes it easy to be kind to the earth while you shop. They do have many events instore, think fashion shows, pop-up galleries, live music performances, and thought-provoking talks. There's always something new and exciting around the corner, designed to spark your curiosity and expand your horizons.

I do visit this store often in Birmingham but always leave feeling full after lunch at Fumo but a little empty handed with purchases because it never really inspires me to shop anymore. Get some better buyer I say!

I love good food, books and films that tell a true story behind them. I love affordable luxury and making brands accountable and more transparent. I love all kinds of music, including Rock, Opera, R&B and classical. When I travel 5 star, it has to be 5 star, including good food, comfort, good sheets and no kids in the pool. I love well made clothes and hate fast disposable fashion. I am well travelled and my favourite places include Marbella, Portofino, St Tropez, LA and Paris.
