Maison Margiela Replica Perfume

First things first. If you have purchased Replica Maison Margiela you probably don’t know it’s made by L’Oreal. Which shouldn’t really be a surprise as L’Oreal make a lot of things they don’t advertise like Kerastase Hair care products. This is not problem unless you are trying to shop cruelty free or are less impressed by the L’Oreal brand name than say Replica or Kerastase.

The Suite of perfumes branded under the Maison Margiela fashion house is inspired by a “replica” clothing collection from back in 1994. And FYI it is not unusual for someone else to make the fragrances for a brand. Olivier Polge took over from his father Jamie’s as the perfumer creating Chanel’s fragrances and said as recently as 2019 he still references the work of Ernest Beaux responsible back in 1921 for creating Chanel 5 (however iconic with strong jasmine and white flower notes. not a personal favourite)

The simple names of the fragrances appealed to my sensibility, like Lazy Sunday Morning and On the Beach, From the garden or Spring time in the park. They remind me of the suite of Hermes fragrances that include Monsieur Li, Jardin Sur le tout and jardin Sur de nil - a suite of fragrances that inspire thoughts of nature, gardens, the ocean.

The Replica fragrances come in two sizes with 30ml priced at £60 and 100 ml prices at £100 the larger size proving the better value and they are lovely bottles.

However as you can find the Hermes suite online for as low as £80 from beauty supply stores for 100ml for anyone cash strapped I’d recommend the Hermes instead which is beautiful is just perhaps doesn’t hold quite so well.

For me the longer a fragrance lasts the more I like it. When I wear Replica I can still smell it the next morning.
