Mount St

Favourite shopping st London

Mount St

Some people like Bond St, some people like South Molton St, some people like Oxford St/Regent St, I like the lesser well known (not on the monopoly board) Mount St.

It’s walking distance from Bond St tube station and easily accessible from Duke St, the Marriott where I have stayed a couple of times. (Great central London location, lovely 5 star hotel and not so expensive as Park Lane or Knightsbridge properties)

At one end of Mount St you’ll find George’s, a private members club with The Audley directly opposite. One gentleman’s dining, the other posh pie and a pint and then at the other end you’ll find the Connaught Hotel. I like it in here, the bar is always busy, not stiff. I always imagine bad (naughty not terrible) behaviour going on here for some reason. Maybe it’s because it’s always fun, a bit of a scene.

The shopping is expensive. marchesi make almost the best cakes in town, there’s one place I know makes better near Marble Arch. For leather goods and luggage there’s Goyard and Moynat, Louboutin and Gianvito Rossi for shoes, Creed, Loewe, Eskandar, Pragnells for jewellery, Linda Farrow for sunglasses, and for the fashionistas the Carolina Herrera store is gorgeous, you can also shop Lanvin here and Simone Rochas.

There is also an Oscar De La Renta and Balmain store/studio but you may need an appointment to go in there, I am not sure.

I also absolutely love the interiors shop around the corner where the lighting and home accessories are better than anywhere. I can shop for clothes and shoes, accessories with the best but I’ll always find and finish with the interiors.

Love a bit of home comfort.

Very very sad to see Thomas Goodes, royal China and glassware producers, the people who had the exquisite store next to Grosvenor chapel go bust this year, after being part of the fabric of the neighbourhood for so long.

Established in 1829 over 200 years ago, took up residence off Mount st in 1844 and famous for providing the dinner service for Charles and Diana’s wedding in 1981. No one is recession proof.

You can still find gorgeous lighting at Apparatus and the Farm shop is the place I grab a delicious sandwich on the go. It’s the new “Mount St Deli”
