DH Gate

Online Chinese dupe platform

I am conflicted by my love for designer products and my ethical principles, therefore this review is really difficult for me to write. I consider myself quite fortunate to have owned pricey designer clothing and handbags, but these days I pay much closer attention to the stories behind the brands I support. This is a rant as well as a raving post. It has recently come to light that Dior is a designer brand that pays poor wages to those who work in factories and uses cheap labour from overseas to create their bags for almost nothing.

I now wonder how many other luxury firms use the same strategy of producing their products in China at low cost and charging exorbitant rates to clients in order to increase profits. Since it is blatantly illegal and untheatrical, and since I felt bad for the large brands, I have always been against dupes. I was curious to see for myself, so I checked out DH Gate, the small yellow app that's all the rage on social media, after my hairdresser told me about it.

To be quite honest, I was very tempted to purchase something that seemed too wonderful to be true and give it a try. Three weeks later, I was shocked to see what had arrived in the mail. A mirror image of some designer slides was what it was. Since I own the actual item, I made a comparison and, to be honest, was unable to distinguish between the two.

I chose to write to the DH Gate portal's online store to enquire about their practices regarding paying fair salaries to the manufacturers of the goods. They responded by stating that they adhered to extremely strict standards in this regard. The fact that the products are scams is still there, but I suppose there is a market for everything these days. This is such a challenging topic, and I often struggle with whether to rage or rave about it. Since more and more apps like DH Gate appear on social media, it appears that this is a rapidly expanding industry. As a result, there must be a huge demand for designer dupes everywhere in the world.

All you can do if you have strong ethical convictions and disagree with this method of shopping is resist the temptation. However, DH Gate did provide a safe and easy shopping experience if you are willing to take the chance and purchase from China, and the goods arrived without any issues.

I think it's horrible and wrong to copy other people's designs, but it's worse when a major designer brand uses slave labour to produce cheap things in China and then sell for a huge profit.
