The conundrum of Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood mogul who once wielded the golden ticket to stardom in his grasp, now etched as a tragic figure in the annals of the entertainment industry. The question of whether to categorize him merely as a sexual predator or as a victim of the Me Too movement is indeed a complex one, as it often is when examining the lives of those who have occupied the upper echelons of power.

On one hand, we have the undeniable and despicable actions that have come to light, a veritable tapestry of exploitation, manipulation, and abuse that Weinstein inflicted upon numerous women over the years. His predatory behaviour, which allegedly involved using his immense influence to coerce aspiring actresses into sexual acts, is a grim reminder of the dark underbelly that has long festered in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

On the flip side, the Me Too movement, a powerful and necessary wave that has swept across the globe, has served to give voice to the voiceless, to hold the powerful accountable, and to shine a much-needed spotlight on the systemic issues that have allowed such predators to flourish. It's a movement that has empowered victims and brought about a cultural shift in how we perceive and address sexual harassment and assault.

However, to simplistically cast Weinstein as a representation of all Hollywood giants would be a disservice to the nuance of the situation. Each case is as unique as the individuals involved, with their own interplay of power dynamics, personal choices, and societal norms. While it's true that the industry is rife with ego-driven individuals and a culture that often rewards the powerful, not every male celebrity is a predator. Many are advocates for change, using their influence to uplift and support those who have suffered similar fates.

Looking for Harvey Weinstein the book, is a true story of my encounter living in Hollywood, looking for Harvey for investment to elevate a poor Russian fresco painter left to rot in the Us. Sounds mad I know but it happened and all before the news that Harvey had been behaving badly. I got a glimpse into the dark and murky waters of how the Hollywood play the game. He was ruthless in business, dynamic in meetings and beyond creative, producing some of the best movies. From what I saw, many women freely threw their knickers at him, begged to be on his arm at the Oscars and would give anything to be seen with him and maybe his ego got out of control. There is a fine line between rape and consensual sex and we all know Men are weak and Women get resentful when sexual favours don't pay off but trial in public, played out in the media would always influence a jury.

I am sure Harvey is not a saint and I am sure he hurt women on the way to the top but I don't think he had a fair trial and was made a scapegoat for the dark side of Hollywood.
