Made.com

When I found out about Made.com I was made up, literally. This is a company that is hiring great designers to bring us, the starved consumer looking for something better than the IKEA offering, great furniture without the hefty price tag you find in posh stores. I heard about the founder, born in China but educated France who set up this business in Notting Hill, London when he as a student wanted a 3000 euro couch he couldn't afford and set about finding someone to make it for him at a cheaper price. He raised 10 million in venture capital in 2010 and now six years later Made is collaborating with top designers and fabric interior brands like Nina Campbell to deliver great lasting pieces with a custom feel for an affordable price all whilst giving profile and exposure to individuals work. Wi win. I absolutely love the ethos of cutting out all the middlemen taking commission for doing nothing and pushing the price of good quality out of the reach of most people. As a interior designer myself my clients have been crying out for a company like Made for years and I am so happy it is finally here.
