Weedmaps could make me move back to America.

Did you know there is an amazing app, dubbed “yelp for pot” by the Guardian.

Weedmaps has cleverly bypassed the illegality of selling medical grade marijuana across state lines by connecting growers, dispensaries and consumers on in one amazing app.

If you live in the UK you cannot even download the app let alone see how it works but I am pleased to see medical marijuana available on prescription in the United Kingdom from American companies Curaleaf Clinic formerly Sapphire and Alternaleaf.

I did go through the process with Alternaleaf of how I, someone extremely healthy might get a prescription. It appears you must have been offered two alternative pharmaceutical drugs before being a candidate/patient for medical marijuana prescription. The year is 2024

I want to take you back to 2000 on Venice Beach where the dispensaries are prolific and the doctors running them are super professional and very chilled out. They tell their “patients” about the dangers of long term alcohol use, so much worse for anyone than smoking marijuana or cannabis and the pot psychosis doctors in the UK seem preoccupied by doesn’t even get mentioned in the US.

I can see the change slowly happening behind the scenes, without aggravating the right wing back benchers who get rid of any progressive government advisor like Dr. David Nutt, sacked in 2009 for declaring, taken from the Guardian, “Nutt incurred the wrath of the government when he claimed in a paper that alcohol and tobacco were more harmful than many illegal drugs, including LSD, ecstasy and cannabis.”

I have to say I have gone as far as figuring out bitcoin and crypto currency to buy a decent strain from abroad but even though the quality was amazing it worked out way too expensive.

For me the illegal cannabis market is worth an estimated 2.5 billion according to IEA, institute or economic affairs and the pot smokers aren’t giving up anytime soon. The prisons are full of pot smokers and pot dealers, costing the tax payer millions.

With apps like Weedmaps revolutionising this marketplace in the US and allowing consumers the power to source and connect with the best growers and suppliers, this new industry is set to do some serious harm to big pharmaceutical companies and I for one cannot wait.

Well done Weedmaps. As soon as we can download in the UK I am there.
