I little bit of California in Harborough

There’s a lot to like about the lounges. They are a chain of casual all day dining restaurants, not your normal run of the mill chain, using recycled furniture and art to decorate and the only place for miles around with an actual vegan menu.

I have been to the one in Leicester and in Rugby. For me the best one, all have different names is the Mercado Lounge in Market Harborough, UK, the staff are the best here and the L shaped seating works really well.

The customers are a mixture, it’s a very relaxed environment, the kind of place you wouldn’t feel uncomfortable going to alone, you could easily find yourself on a shared table having a game of scrabble or monopoly.

Dogs are welcome and bowls and doggie treats provided. They have a full bar and freshly squeezed juice is available on tap, again the only place you can get this in the area.

The menu has been cut down of late so a couple of my favourites are no longer available. That said for most people there is a lot to choose from and the food is fresh and good. Pretty decent portions and not super expensive. I’d say good value.

The only negative of late is going on a Monday they have always run out of ingredients after a busy weekend so what comes out of the kitchen might be not as good as usual.
