EXCELLENT COMMUNITY NEWS AGENCY IN LEICESTER

This is a cool and very interesting online newspaper for Leicester full of local titbits of news and unusual things you probably wouldn’t find out about anywhere else.

The reason, they encourage community reporting which means anyone can submit a press release and get it posted, at the editor, John Coster’s discretion, a passionate journalist with a social conscience. Emaileditor@citizenseye.org.

Getting publicity for anything is extremely difficult particularly if you have no budget or an in with a local/national journalist. The Citizen’s Eye is a wonderful publication to get the message out there for your event, charity or new business venture whilst giving the newspaper much needed free, original, well written content.

Also if you fancy a career in journalism it is great way to get some much needed experience, see if you enjoy the work and if you are any good at it whilst being mentored by some real pros.

My recommendation to ensure your article is published would be, original content, all your own work and not posted elsewhere on the web, as this helps Citizen’s Eye with search engine recognition, something they are already very good at, i.e. people will actually get to find your article through Google etc. Tell a story and make it interesting, don’t just write about your business, adverts are boring. Try to give something back to the publication and the reader in the way of helpful information or tips. Remember this is a two way street, you are helping them with content, they are helping you with free press.

If you are a reader, Citizen’s Eye is a fabulous way to find out what is really happening in and around Leicester, stuff you just won’t see in the Mercury or on ITV Central, and well worth a look.
