My experience

Market Harborough Parking Attendents

I am a fashion designer and make bridal gowns so I am always moving clothes and accessories from here to there and loading and unloading my car. I travel to shoots and clients so always investigate easy parking before I go anywhere.

If you are visiting Market Harborough or thinking of moving there and planning to drive and park make sure you don’t get a ticket or give the council any grounds what so ever to give you a ticket.

I have found the attendants to be unfriendly, borderline aggressive and without doubt on a mission to make money for the council. It’s a fine line between doing a job no one likes reasonably and fairly with a human touch and creating such an atmosphere of intimidation it makes you want to avoid a place altogether.

I worked and parked in Market Harborough for 18 months and it was probably the most unsettling time I have had.Despite my best efforts to pay and park legally and conveniently I had numerous run ins with the council and the parking attendants. And on more than one occasion found them next to or loitering near by my car as the clock on the parking was about to expire.

I got an unprecedented number of parking tickets and despite best efforts to pay for

a convenient parking permit or communicate with council leaders about my experience everything fell on deaf ears.

I even tried speaking to the Mayor of Leicester and my local M.P. Neil O’ Brian and got no where and when I left the final ticket unpaid in protest, thinking I would get my day in court to have my say and let a judge decide I ended up with a judgement against me without any participation from me and debt collectors Marston Recovery after me. Not an experience I want to repeat.

Don’t mess with the local council, logic, reason and common sense have no bearing.

These days I just try to avoid Market Harborough by car.

FYI if you have to go the centre of the town is easily walkable 5-10 minutes from the train station.
