CANDY “n” CREAM Rock Shop

This is my first snoop. I hope it meets with community approval and I get published. Fingers crossed. I have adhered to the site policies, polite respectful, no swearing, factual, honest.

So here goes;

I joined to share my thoughts and experience at this shop whilst on vacation.

What a disappointment when I came to enjoy my rock. I am a lover of seaside rock. It’s a nostalgia thing so whenever friends or family head to the coast they bring me a stick of sugary peppermint sticky bad for your teeth indulgence.

I came across this little shop a few weeks ago on our family beach break in Norfolk. The bright exterior made it pop immediately and the inside looked like the set of lollipop land in the wizard of Oz so a visual treat for anyone enjoying the shopping experience. And I have to say here the experience in store was friendly and positive and I was overwhelmed with the choice, kids certainly would have a field day.

Like many people I am sure I went a bit mad. One of these, one of these, oh I’ll have one of those, and one of those. I ended up spending about £30 which isn’t a fortune but at between a £1 and £2 a stick I came away with a pretty big bag.

I didn’t open the rock until about a week after we had come home and sadly when I did it was all off, soft and inedible. We tried putting it in the fridge as it had been a bit warm outside (not warm enough to ruin it) but it wasn’t the temperature, it was the texture that was the problem.

It’s interesting as a shop like this catering to visitors like me, who come to town and then leave, holiday makers cannot return product that is not quite up to scratch and kids to be honest probably eat it anyway. In my case the whole bag lots of different types and sizes were a problem, a complete waste of money. I know hard boiled sweets do have a tendency to go soft over time, but this was hardly any time at all. My recommendation, eat these sweet treats immediately.
