Image credit Adolpho Antonio Girela. I picked one of my favourites. Of course it’s the ocean.
Born in Havana Cuba in 1962 Adolpho has always said his happy childhood is the foundation for his inspiration which comes from the colour and vibrancy of the Latin fire and the beauty and harmony of the Caribbean Sea.
I was fortunate to meet Adolpho Antonio Girela, Cuban artist Los Angeles 25 years ago. He was already successful with a beautiful home combination gallery in west La.
I’d opened a small art gallery space in Manhattan Beach, California with a business partner and friend with the goal of bringing together art and interiors for the mega beach front property tycoons on the California coast and help the brilliant artists in the city get the exposure, profile, marketing and new customers, collectors they deserved. We were in search of the best Los Angeles based artists. The city, a tough place to survive even with talent and success. And the multi million dollar properties being purchased just for the land value and torn down there was a lot of opportunity for art and interior
His work is mixed media, acrylics on canvas, pieces of scale you can delve into and get lost, inspired by nature, abstract and inviting, the artist fiery, hot headed, passionate and super talented, perfect combination of hard work and sensibility.
I came across his work quite recently and quite by chance at a party in London where I immediately recognised his style and asked the owner if the piece was by Adolpho Girela and how they had come to own it.
They told me they had bought it from a gallery in Bellevue in Washington a few years ago and the coincidence picqued my curiosity and I went to take a look at Adolpho Girela website below.
Obviously much has happened in twenty five years and Adolpho has gone on to be exhibited in most of the major galleries in the Western United States.
When we started the gallery it was with the intention to help promote and help talented artists bridge the gap between their work and their collectors. The goal of Poopsnoop community is to do the same thing so if Google pops this snoop up Adolpho, hello from Art Interiors in Manhattan Beach, and so happy to see your beautiful work turning up in unexpected places.
Congratulations.
You can find out more about Adolpho’s latest exhibitions, collaborations and commissions across California, Oregon and Washington.
