“My shoes are not for everyone”

I own one pair. I’ve had them over twenty years. I remember when I bought them I paid full retail, I enjoyed the shopping experience immensely and I vowed back then I would keep them for ever.

I’d heard Christian Louboutin being interviewed years ago. He’s famous for making no excuse for making very high, very uncomfortable shoes, although he did say the ones made especially for Taylor Swifts Eras tour were designed for comfort and quick changes which head scratch might be a slight contradiction to the sassy quotes about discomfort and sex appeal Louboutin is more famous for.

The sex appeal of the red leather soles makes the Louboutin shoe instantly recognisable and as Coco Chanel famously said, “No woman is ugly in good shoes.”

When I went to buy mine I had a wonderful and very memorable experience.

When I heard Mr. Louboutin say his shoes were so special it was impossible for them to be for everyone it created a desire that one day I would own a pair. I went to the boutique but you can find Christian Louboutin shoe concessions in all the major department stores around the world.

My pair are not high heels, at my age I wanted to get the maximum wear possible over 20 or 30 years so knew I needed low to last.

I went for the iconic sweet Jane, I love the Miss Jane too, for me the flats are more useful. A classic French patent flat with a double strap. An absolute classic, never going out of style.

At the time I think they cost me 300 euros. Today if I wanted to replace them new I’d have to spend 800 or 900 euros.
