Whenever I go to the NEC in Birmingham I usually grit my teeth. The exhibition centre attracts loads of people and by the time it’s time for dinner and bed I be happy to sleep in a travel lodge or premier inn. It’s usually where I stay to be fair.
This new to me property turned out to be a nice home from home. The rooms are simple, perfectly comfortable for the business traveller and the parking is complimentary for hotel guests or 3 hours validated for dinner guests.
The bar area is perfect for meeting, the restaurant was closed when I was there so dinner was also served in the bar which was fine.
The food was OK, not brilliant not terrible and the prices were on the steep side I thought.
It’s your typical on brand Crowne Plaza in terms of the property, furniture, art, fixtures and fittings.
The thing that was great about this hotel was the staff. Everyone I encountered over my one night stay was friendly, helpful and pretty efficient.
I’d stay again if I had to be near the NEC for business.
