One of my favourite little independent shops to visit for shopping designer fashion secondhand is a little consignment shop in Hampstead on Rosslyn Hill called Designs.

It’s run by Dominique and her team of little elves, the ultimate Saturday girls there to help if you need it but not pressure in anyway, happy to let you browse the extensive selection, the rails are normally packed both upstairs where you’ll find dresses and occasion wear on the right of the store, jackets, outerwear and knitwear on the left, all high end brands and honestly very reasonable prices. Just to give you an idea, I’ve bought a few things but standouts are a James Perse cashmere cardigan retailing around £2000 for £200, and an amazing Anya Hindmarch bag I absolutely love and use a lot for a song.

It’s a consignment shop so if you’ve got good stuff to sell although like I said the prices are super reasonable so you have to be realistic if you want to unload your expensive shopping mistakes.

My grandmother lives in Hampstead so it’s somewhere we go together for old fashioned shopping as she calls it and then lunch which is always good because she usually pays. She won’t mind me saying.

This time it was a lovely day so we tried a place a couple of doors down for lunch the Oak and Poppy which is architecturally very interesting. It looks really cool from the outside, clean sandstone and glass building with beautiful wrought iron signage and outdoor tables where we sat, not the most comfortable but hey the price you pay for sitting outside.

We had a Mediterranean Mezze sharing plate, grilled halloumi, olives, hummus, falafel, babaganoush, tumeric couscous, sumac yoghurt and flat bread there was a lot of food and it was tasty, around £26 the buckwheat salad was a bit bland and I probably wouldn’t order that again.

The service was OK, again we were outside and it was quite busy inside so maybe the weekends aren’t the best time to go.

Would I return, probably not. The Ottolenghi a bit further down is a better option, again not the friendliest service but the food I’d say is definitely better.

One thing that was really good at Oak and Poppy was the cocktails we both had a passion fruit gin thingy which were absolutely delicious.

I took the tube, Belsize Park from Green Park and a short walk up the hill is very easy but if you want to drive there is loads of parking right outside.
