Whilst everyone is moaning about delivery servives

DPD

In the US there’s Fedex, UPS and the postal service. In the UK there’s Evri formally Hermes, Yodel, FedEx (if you pay a lot) DPD and Royal Mail.

Everyone knows courier services in the UK are very poor. If they had approval ratings from the public, I predict it would be the lowest ever and yet despite online sales plummeting we still are forced to use them.

In our village we have a what’s app group to track parcels and return misdelivered parcels to the correct place. I just got a message, in response to a missing undelivered parcel saying they saw the Evri guy last Wednesday so not to expect him back until after Christmas.

Meant to be a joke. Never a truer word than that spoken in jest.

I’ve stopped buying from anyone online who cannot deliver to our local drop off spot unless they ship with DPD.

I don’t know why more companies don’t use them, it must be cost. I’d rather pay a pound or two more for the peace of mind and so much less hassle.

If the only shipping option is Evri I don’t purchase.

The DPD guys who come to us are so good. They are friendly and efficient. They have even mentioned in the past DPD are a good employer, one of the best in the sector.

And we’ve not lost a parcel completely, one went missing but it was recovered eventually.

I will say though the business services (UK based customer service) is way way better than the customer service for the consumer. The customer service people I had to speak to were based in South Africa and to be honest they were not great. They even said to me if I was a business customer I’d get better service speaking to them even though this was something I was receiving just from shopping online.

I did end up having to sort my issue through businesses services which is not so good if you are just a regular customer and cannot call the business team about something unrelated.

I guess the difference is DPD make less mistakes so you don’t have to speak to the customer service team so often. And at least they do have one, try calling some of the other couriers.

When I think about it there is room for a delivery company to come in and take everyone’s lunch.
