Good luck to you, Leo Grande isn't just a film—it’s an act of quiet revolution. Emma Thompson’s Nancy isn’t a caricature of repressed desire but a woman etched in trembling vulnerability and dry wit, her every sigh carrying the weight of a lifetime spent folding herself into society’s expectations. And Daryl McCormack’s Leo? He’s no fantasy gigolo. He listens. *Really* listens. His patience isn’t performative; it’s a mirror held up to Nancy’s hunger to be seen.

What unfolds feels less like scripted dialogue and more like eavesdropping on a series of raw, tender therapy sessions. The hotel room becomes a confessional—a neutral ground where shame unravels into dark humour, and awkwardness blooms into startling intimacy. When Nancy tentatively asks, "Do I seem like a person to you?" the question hangs in the balance like a held breath. We’ve all asked it silently, haven’t we?

The script refuses grand speeches. Its power lies in the unsaid: the tremor in Nancy’s hands when she touches Leo’s tattoos, the way Leo’s eyes soften when she confesses she’s never had an orgasm with another person. It’s a masterclass in nuance—where liberation isn’t a fireworks display but the slow unfurling of a clenched fist. And yes, it’s unapologetically *for* women. Not in an exclusionary way, but in its bone-deep understanding of female solitude, the societal corset that tells women their desires expire at forty. Yet here’s the alchemy: every man in this audience just witnessed his mother, sister, wife, or daughter reflected in Nancy’s journey. Saw the courage it takes to say, "I want more."

This is an amazing and surprising movie that is less like a comedy and move like a deep, sometimes uncomfortable look at a recently widowed after a passionless marriage, retired teacher who hires a charming sex worker in his twenties to give her a crash course in pleasure. The acting is unbelievable between the two main characters who draw you in to their dark side beyond the point of the movie. She wants to explore her sexual repressed fantasies list with a hot young body. He is a master and amazing teacher but deep down they end up exposing some emotional baggage they both have hidden under the belly of the comedy. I loved it. Its hard to pull off a whole movie with just two characters but this works beautifully. Well worth watching. A truly amazing character study.

I love good food, books and films that tell a true story behind them. I love affordable luxury and making brands accountable and more transparent. I love all kinds of music, including Rock, Opera, R&B and classical. When I travel 5 star, it has to be 5 star, including good food, comfort, good sheets and no kids in the pool. I love well made clothes and hate fast disposable fashion. I am well travelled and my favourite places include Marbella, Portofino, St Tropez, LA and Paris.
