It is the perfect beach to take the dogs, rain or shine. The 19th-century resort town of Hunstanton was first called New Hunstanton to differentiate it from the nearby village of the same name. The new town quickly surpassed the village in both population and size.

Hunstanton features a lengthy promenade, a fairground, a theatre, a leisure pool, an aquarium and seal sanctuary, and sizable camp sites with facilities. The broad sloping lawn that runs from one end of High Street to the promenade is still the focal point.
