I have two amazing corner shops I absolutely love to support. There are thousands of them across the UK. Open all hours, they even made a TV show about this little big thing we all use and rely upon probably without giving much thought to the people behind the counter working so hard to touch every customer.

I don’t know the name of the man who serves me at Lutterworth News; he always welcomes me like an old friend and even though we exchange few words, English is his second language he always has my brand of cigarettes ready and has even started stocking the exact cigarette papers my fella uses because we were struggling to find them elsewhere.

I’ve noticed the shelves in Aldi and Waitrose in Lutterworth where I do my grocery shopping are getting more and more sparse and I’ve found myself picking up other things at the convenience store like loo roll and tea bags because they were out of stock or sold out elsewhere.

Times are a changing when good service, gratitude and a genuine friendly welcome out way the cheapest price and the most television advertising.
