Marysol Patton Makes Real Housewives of Miami the hottest most watchable show on TV

For Glamour, gossip and luxury lifestyle lovers no hotter TV ticket than RHOM at the moment for me

Even the shows tagline “sunny with a 100% chance of shade” is hilarious.

When Marysol Patton married much younger French businessman Phillipe in 2010 in the first season of Real Housewives of Miami she along with her hilarious and completely unforgettable mother Elsa Patton or Mama Elsa (who incidently secured her own reality spin off in 2012 Havana Elsa) became my must watch favourites of the whole Bravo real housewives franchise. Then it felt like the show went a bit cold or maybe it wasn’t airing in the UK until bam, all of sudden the girls from Miami are back introducing new cast members Julia and Kiki. Kiki I absolutely love for her no holds barred interjection and relentless tell it how you see it repartee. Julia Lemigova the girl next door of the group reminds us all what women without plastic surgery actually look like and wife Martina Navratilova are thrown into the mix, introduced in Season 4 of The Real Housewives of Miami. Julia is introduced as a friend of OG cast member Adriana de Moura who is now virtually unrecognisable from the financially struggling Latina babe we met in season 1. Although tennis star Martina isn't a main cast member, she is introduced as Julia's wife and appears on the show with her, adding an extra real life dimension we haven’t really seen on the franchise before. Someone appearing on the show already globally recognised for her achievement in sport.

We are over three years behind in the UK season 4 originally aired in the US way back in December, 2021 and then repeated on Bravo in 2022, the current new season aired the following year in July 2023 on Bravo premiering on Peacock in December, 2022 but I am absolutely addicted to the glamour and back stabbing in Miami. Season 5 currently airing on ITVBe in the UK but you can watch the current season 7 on Hayu with a subscription to the cable channel.

Although we don’t get to see anymore iconic footage of Mama Elsa Patton, Marysol Patton’s mum who died in 2019 of a stroke at 84 after battling a long illness, and her contribution to the show is definitely missed, new cast members Kiki has somewhat filled Elsa’s void for me with her absolutely hilarious style, comedic timing and not a bad bone in her body, tell it how she see’s it, brutal truth commentary.

Lisa’s plastic surgeon husband has run off with a younger woman and in true franchise style much of the content centres around her inability to move on as she tries to launch a new fragrance business and navigate relationships with her mother in law and the other cast members in the show. The last episode watched touched on Lenny Hochstein, Lisa’s ex going to court to try and stop Lisa’s spending on her grocery store card Instacart card account tied to his bank account for essentials for the children. Lisa having racked up $10,000 dollars in charges, caused the women to lament how could that be possible? Suggesting clearly the money was not spent on food, suggesting a make up and beauty shopping addiction at Sephora the real issue as Lisa’s tiny 5’ 5” frame goes from a size two to a size 0.

The star of the show during season 5 currently airing in the UK for me remains OG original Marysol Patton whose Marge Simpsonesque gentle southern drawl coupled with a pulled tighter than her extension exposing ponytailed head, think wind tunnelled stretched Saran wrap or cling-filmed face (not a criticism more an observation, extreme plastic surgery is just not my thing) and a rip your throat out when crossed strike rate never ceases to allow us to look away for a moment with accusations flying Marysol will stop at nothing to bring down an enemy, warnings amongst the women as they chat amongst themselves, never to cross her. Claims from co star Adriana de Moura suggest Marysol may wish you dead and enlist the help of a witch to provide her with a voodoo doll to stick pins into to ensure everyone takes her threats seriously.

With fictional character Cruella De Vil’s laugh coming a distant second to Marysol’s rye smile and mischief making in the group, mainly I suspect for maintaining her position as the most talked about housewife in the whole Bravo franchise not just in Miami, Marysol is following in Mum’s Elsa’s footsteps when it come to being one of the most watchable women on TV for me.

She’s strong, ruthless, totally unpredictable, a narcissistic contradiction we absolutely cannot get enough of. The only character coming close in the past Lisa Vanderpump and she was unseated and exposed in the end. I think Elsa’s wisdom and humour and steely self reliance have been instilled in her protegy and daughter Marysol. And along with her co stars, I honestly don’t think any of the other groups of women in the whole Bravo Real housewives franchise can touch the outrageous storylines and glamour. These real housewives of Miami have set a new bar Beverly Hills and Orange County the original glamour girls in California will find hard to top.

Bravo Bravo, absolutely spectacular TV for those of us who love to see glamour, lifestyle and gossip on TV.
