My third secondhand car purchased from Mayfair Motors

Total peace of mind is what you want when buying a used car but honestly where can you go to ensure you get that in this day and age. I don’t really know anything about cars except I know how to jumpstart one with a dodgy battery, top up the oil and water and that’s about it so when it comes to buying one (and my father’s not on hand to help) I need expert professional guidance I can trust.

Everyone is familiar with the phrase “used car salesman” and I am sure like me buying a used car fills many people with absolute dread. The fear of ending up with a lemon being palmed off on an unsuspecting clueless car person, me, makes buying a secondhand or used car a very scary ordeal.

About 5 years ago I bought my first used car from Mayfair Motors. Zam helped me, I was on a serious budget but I ended up with a really nice car that drove really well and lasted me a couple of years until I was in a no fault accident and the vehicle was written off. I was absolutely gutted. It was a great car.

With my "less than the car was actually worth" payment from my insurance company, don’t get me started, I went back to Mayfair Motors and this time Cass helped me find another vehicle. It was a little bit older with a few more miles on it but he assured me it drove well, had a very good service history and only a couple of previous owners and would meet my needs. He was right. The car was great. Never once let me down, very reliable, low tax and insurance and great miles to the gallon. I put a lot of miles on that car.

When it went into the garage for a check up I discovered through wear and tear the cost of repair wasn’t worth it, it was a pretty old vehicle so decided to sell it and find something new to me.

On this visit I was helped by Ilfan and once again I received friendly, helpful advice based on my needs and my as always limited budget. If you've tried to find a secondhand car on a budget in the last year or so you'll know inventory is very low and prices have sky rocketed so buying a used car today can be quite difficult if you don't want to take on an even more expensive car financing plan. I prefer to pay cash, using savings and keeping costs lower instead of financing but Mayfair Motors can help you with finance too if that's the route your prefer. I don't know what kind of terms they can offer but they will give you straightforward honest information regarding interest rates, length or repayments terms and down payments.

This time I couldn’t drive the vehicle I chose away with me as I was by myself but this wasn’t a problem, Mayfair Motors were happy to drop the car off to me the same evening all for the price of a nice tip. I gave the kind driver who brought my new second hand car to my door, on time as promised that same evening, £20 which he was extremely grateful for telling me if I knew anyone else looking for a great starter car, he had two that he would personally recommend, one a Ford Focus, the other a Kia, again great low mileage and running costs so good for a Mum or Dad looking for a first car for a driver just passing their test.
