Real Housewives of New York City Season 15

Quick question for Bravo TV

I wanted to make some observations after binge watching the Housewives of New York this weekend only to be left hanging after 5 episodes (the season started in the US in November) so I can only assume it is still airing, why we got 5 episodes to stream in Hayu in the UK and then nada.

Any hoo, I thought this show was supposed to be an escape into the world of the haves (not the have nots)

So on the one hand we still have Erin’s children crying they have a tummy ache and need an Uber to get home (god forbid they take the train across town) and Jessel saying she completely understands as the first words she remembers saying to her father was “Taxi” exactly what we expect from the housewives. The privilege and status creating spoilt and delusional in equal measure is what keeps me returning for an extra dose, it’s entertaining to watch the disconnection when it’s actually real reality.

Cut to Ubah’s “the couldn’t swing a cat around apartment” in less than swanky Columbus Circle, against spending or supposedly going to spend $4200 for a night at the St Regis is Puerto Rico because she’s “too rich” to spend the night in a small bedroom with closet and en-suite bathroom.

Brynn’s technical intellectual property company, 50 people working in London, 14 people in New York, we never see, then a couple of episodes later she’s writing a book? And a lifecoaching book at that, where the editor actually says on camera you give me the story bit, your life and I’ll slot in the lifecoaching for you.

Then we’ve got Sai who cannot afford her $400 weekly organic whole foods shop and elects for attempting to grow her own instead.

Erin’s telling off husband Abe for selling off their Bitcoin behind her back to pay debts.

The only one who appears flush is new comer accessories designer Rebekah Minkoff and her 100 million dollar brand.

Even the grand Dame of American style and power CEO Jenna Lyon’s is selling off all her clobber Met Gala gowns included for a song to supposedly pay for expensive ongoing dental work not covered by insurance.

I think the Real Housewives of New York are sounding more like The Real Housewives of Coventry (where I now live although not a housewife either)

Not sure skint housewives or housewives on a budget will have the same appeal.

It is just a little comforting to know even the beautiful people the privileged few are joining us the masses when the Bravo salaries and the profile and marketing that comes from being cast in a global franchise is not enough to actually maintain the lifestyle without a very rich husband.
