Sophie's World

Sophie's World

When 14-year-old Sophie encounters a mysterious mentor who introduces her to philosophy, mysteries deepen in her own life. Why does she keep getting postcards addressed to another girl? Who is the other girl? And who, for that matter, is Sophie herself? To solve the riddle, she uses her new knowledge of philosophy, but the truth is far stranger than she could have imagined.

A phenomenal worldwide bestseller, SOPHIE'S WORLD sets out to draw teenagers into the world of Socrates, Descartes, Spinoza, Hegel and all the great philosophers. A brilliantly original and fascinating story with many twists and turns, it raises profound questions about the meaning of life and the origin of the universe.

GENIUS CAPTIVATING AND EXTREMELY CLEVER BOOK

I read this book about 5 or 6 years ago and decided to review it because I still remember how stunned I was by it.

I've been a reader all my life, so have ploughed through hundreds of books most I've forgotten. This one no way. I was in it from the beginning, the author weaves a complex tale that takes the reader on a series of history lessons of the worlds greatest philosophers whilst coaching the protagonist in the story, a teenage girl through a mystical, strange friend.

Sounds weird I know but it's not. It is the type of book you cannot put down and at the end, you are shocked and stunned by the twist of all twists. This is one of the most creative, highly tuned, educational, spiritual, magical reads I have ever experienced.

You have to go on the journey then you'll know what I mean. It's esoteric and I loved it.
