In the 1980's I dated a surveyor for a time with an office on Hays Mews so we were always in the Footman off Berkeley Square after work.
It's actually one of the oldest pubs in London with a suite of private dining rooms upstairs for business or pleasure events and loads of parking close by on Berkeley Square and the surrounding residential/office streets.
Smack bang in the heart of Mayfair this pub attracts a mixed clientele, you might find yourself rubbing shoulders with the hoi polloi like me or an expensive suit but it's always been a down to earth place where the service is friendly and the snobbery of Mayfair over rated.
This is the perfect low key spot for anyone who wants to enjoy the location of Mayfair yet be insulated from the super high prices you are going to find in most food places in the neighbourhood.
The Footman has been a favourite of mine for years and now with a menu upgrade after the pandemic, this old hostelry is a great choice for a sit down after work or a weekday lunch time posh pie and a pint.
We used to be quite naughty back in the day, as the back door leads straight up the stairs to the loos so if we were desperate it was an easy place to access the loo without having to buy a drink if you were desperate and didn't want the embarrassment of asking to use the toilet.
Nowadays it's one in the back pocket, a home from a home, a place I love, I do sneak into to use the loo, the staff have changed since I was a regular otherwise I'd definitely say hello.
