If you’ve been following my snoops you’ll know I’ve been moaning a bit about the restaurants around Leicester going downhill. At the same time I have been searching for Sardinian Olive oil Obia to start making the food I long to eat myself and came across a perfect deli in Wistow Rural Centre which is a very cute independent sort of retail park with a difference next to Wistow Maze, a wonderful summer destination activity for adults and kids worth a visit.
I am going off on a tangent as I want to tell you about The Olive Tree Company.
The Mediterranean Deli and Farm Shop you have to go yourself. Seeing is believing.
Deli with a difference. It’s like being transported into an Italian small town on market day where everything you see, touch, smell make you hungry and inspired to cook. To make what you fancy. To give up going to restaurants looking for that home cooked made with love food you find on every street across the country in Italy.

The staff are really friendly and will love to hear from you and whatever you are in search of; from the gourmet to the obsure, if they haven’t got it someone really passionate and knowledgable about food will be able to guide you in the right direction.
They sell everything from beautiful locally sourced fresh fruit and vegetables, the best olive oils in the world, what I was looking for from Obia in Sardinia to pastas, breads, cakes, pickles, olives, everything you could imagine for a sharing table of tasty delight.
It’s the kind of one of a kind deli you are not going find in most towns and cities across across the UK. In fact when I did stumble across it I couldn’t believe no one had told me about it. It’s better than good. It’s now my favourite place to buy food.
From the charcuterie to the baklava there’s truly something top notch for everyone. move over Fortnum and Mason you’ve got some local competition.
Have you ever tried homemade Turkish delight?
