VERY AVERAGE
I got three quarters of the way through this Sadie Jones break out offering before losing the will to live.
It was nominated for the Orange Prize, how? would be my question if this prize is worth the supposed prestige. I should have known better when I saw it was on the Richard and Judy list.
The book is about a guy Lewis Aldridge and begins on his release from jail, returning home to his father, step mother and a post WWII home.
The first part is slow and slit your throat depressing so I don't know who wrote the promotional blurb and Part II goes into an Atonement knock off which doesn't really go anywhere.
If this is the best publishers can find for our fresh literary talent offering MUST TRY HARDER.
