If you are looking for a picturesque lunch spot in Market Harborough this is it, impossible to beat. Please comment if you know if somewhere better for lunch and a view. On a sunny day there isn’t a more idyllic spot than tucked behind the water front inn sitting on the edge of the canal watching the world saunter by at a riverboat pace with memories of tales of Wind in The Willows and gorgeous John Worsley Illustrations. It’s really a special spot where the choices for lunch out are well limited at best.
It’s pub grub, fish and chips, burger and chips the portions are hearty, the service quick and always friendly. The boss owner and his wife partner are super professional and always offer a warm welcome, can honestly say I’ve NEVER caught them having a bad day.
Not been for a while and was delighted to see a few new additions on the menu. We tried loaded nachos. It was a major treat. No they were not plant based, the cheese was light and I avoided the sour cream, like tennis star Venus Williams I am also a Cheegan (cheating vegan)
The guacamole was tasty and didn’t taste pre prepared, if it was out of a tub it was decent quality. The salsa was out of a jar but hey there were loads of peppery halapenos and for a girl who lives and dies for authentic Mexican food for Market Harborough it was an absolute triumph for £9.50.
Thank you waterfront Inn, the sun was shining, the food wasn’t fancy but absolutely hit the spot and as usual the service charge of 7.5% was well earned.
My top tip, if it’s a lovely day arrive early or book a table. It does get very busy outside with the boats and the quiet Hun of hungry lunch guests and the soothe of water against the quay.
FYI the vibe is different inside, we wouldn’t go when it’s raining just for the food. Inside feels more like a refectory dining experience.
