HOPE SPRINGS

Being a married woman myself I was rather worried about renting this DVD, as I thought it might be too real to face and I can say I was right. The movie is very well acted and very moving, although I wouldn't recommend watching it with your spouse especially if you are not getting along as well as you have in the past. Could be a bit bare knuckle.

The story follows a married couple who have been together for 31 years with grown up kids and a love that has grown apart. Meryl Streep plays the poor lonely sad wife of hard moody sexless Tommy Lee Jones and she decides they need to get sex therapy in order to get their marriage back on track.

The film is supposed to be a comedy but I have to say I did not laugh once, in fact I almost cried a few times, maybe because it was too close to the truth for most married couples. I really did enjoy it, it was very touching although I am very happy I did not watch this movie with my husband otherwise I may have been cringing a bit myself in my seat. Well worth renting alone with a big box of tissues, a big box of chocolates and maybe the number of a very good sex therapist.
