I had to go to Bournmouth for a business photo shoot and client storyboard meeting so got a room at the Marriott and stayed at the Highcliff Hotel Bournemouth UK š¬š§ for three nights June, 24 which is unlike any other US style Marriott I have ever stayed in but not in a bad way. The only thing I will say coming in early off a transatlantic flight I didnāt get into my room until after 4pm arrived at 9am and the hotel wasnāt full so would have been good to be able to have a sleep straight away.
The hotel itself was very English for an American through and through brand managing to combine the convenience and amenities of the large corporate chain interspersed with British charm.
The outdoor heated pool was a really luxury dipping in on more than chilly mornings definitely made up for an ocean dip even a hard core New Yorker couldnāt face. The views from up there reminded me of another cliff top
Property Eden Roc on the Cote DāAzur.
FYI if you are expecting Marriott standard food my recommendation would be to eat somewhere else but beds comfy and staff friendly. Itās an old building with a few noises in the pipes but gorgeous sea views from my room and if the service seems a little chaotic I am told thatās all part of the British charm.
I absolutely loved going in and out using the old fashioned revolving door like the one in āThe Graduateā movie.
FYI for anyone who is a smoker, the whole property in non smoking so no lighting up even outside in the grounds or on the property. Closed circuit TV everywhere so donāt try it.
