I’m Wearing my Lacoste APC socks for the next two weeks of Wimbledon

It’s Wimbledon fortnight I’m supporting Novak for his 8th championship title

I’m Wearing my Lacoste APC socks for the next two weeks of Wimbledon

I’ve always been a fan of Lacoste to be fair. The simple French sporty style inspired by French tennis great Rene Lacoste.

I had a pastel polo shirt in the 1980’s which cost me a bomb back then but boy did I love it. I wore it to death with a shorter than short washed out cotton denim mini skirt, plimsols and a high ponytail and thought I was very chic.

I don’t usually like things over branded so the tiny croc logo works for me and I’ve treated myself to a couple of pairs of celebratory socks for Wimbledon when I saw another French favourite of mine APC Paris had collaborated with the tennis sports brand worn by my favourite player, Novak Djokovic to celebrate the French open in 2022.

I actually love the socks no longer available. I found mine on a second hand site where you can still find a few pairs if you are lucky with prices ranging from £15-£30. Not that much difference in price since they launched at €25.00 rrp a pair.

The socks are beautiful quality as you’d expect from a French design house collaboration at this level, soft, think, cushioned, bouncy under foot. APC has never let me down. Everything I own from APC Paris is absolutely beautiful and my all time favourite Suzanne Koller jumper came from there. It’s simple minimalist luxury to the nth degree.

I like it too you cannot buy these socks anymore, they are limited, not everyone has got a pair, or knows the story of them. For me that’s part of the beauty of clothes, we wear the things we love often, for one simple reason, that we love them and this is true for me with these socks.

It’s Wimbledon 2025, every year a new exciting tournament, the highs the lows, the twists the turns and the for me the fashion. I do like to see what everyone is wearing. All part of the fun.

This year Novak Djokovic is seeded 6th, a relative outsider for the win that would be his 9th championship success if he pulls it off but I shall be watching with intent, wearing my socks and cheering him on from the sofa, (I’ve been submitting my Wimbledon ballot now since 2005) maybe next year.
