I snooped about two Rodial products my daughter recommended for older skin several months ago. The instant filler primer and the glass primer. Since then I have settled on the one I prefer. It really is a magnificent product. The Mrs Rodial instant filler Primer at £35 is on the pricey side for 30ml but it doesn’t the job and at the moment it’s only £15 online which is a significant saving, £18.50 including shipping.
So here’s my Brand Rant; I should have just purchased, got my saving and been delighted. Instead I got caught up in a Mrs Rodial Savings Offer that isn’t an offer. The crazy part is when I went on the Rodial website I was over the moon to see the £35 product on a special deal for £15. Who wouldn’t have been? I would have purchased happily immediately, delighted for the savings. And then I was bombarded with additional discount pop ups online which confused the whole process and by the time I was finished I was so frustrated to have been led through additional steps that didn’t lead anywhere I ended up not buying anything.
Arghhh who doesn’t like an offer and we know brands incentivise us to hand over our emails in exchange for a discount, in this case at Rodial it was an additional 15% off. Only £1.50 in the case of the primer but I was already thinking bigger, deciding to take advantage an pick up a few additional things me and my daughters like, like the snake oil drops and the dragons blood sculpting gel, the serum and hyaluronic velvet cream and spf moisturiser where the savings would have been quite significant.
I was only really in need of a refill for my Rodial Instant Filler, 30ml which is a magnificent product for 40 plus skin. I put it on under my foundation, as a primer, it’s light and doesn’t sit in the pores or clog the skin, and every time I wear it I invariably get a compliment so it’s become a staple in my makeup up bag.
Except the brand put me off purchasing today, not because I won’t buy a replacement in the future I will, but because I jumped through hoops handing over the email, connecting via my mobile, giving over all my details and then being disappointed no discount for me.
I honestly don’t know why brands do it, well I do, they want our data, our details but to renege after the fact just made me feel a bit arghh and stopped me purchasing. It wasn’t about the money it was about the expectation setting. I immediately stopped the text messages, they have my number and email now so it’ll be interesting to see how much marketing I start to receive.
