Vault and Vine is a unique and appealing dining experience, offering a blend of historical ambience with modern Italian cuisine at an affordable price point. While the setting and the food have positive aspects, the service can sometimes be a crucial element of the overall experience. Young, inexperienced staff can sometimes be a bit hit-or-miss in terms of service quality, as they may still be learning the ropes of the hospitality industry. This was a problem for me because I found myself asking for cutlery, ice and lemon for the water, salt and pepper, plates, which drove me a little mad but it is a new restaurant, so hopefully this will improve with time.
The outside area is nice on a sunny day and the cocktail bar served a good but small espresso martini. The food to be honest was a bit hit and miss. We had to send back the pasta dish because it had too many chilli's mixed in, making it too much to bear. The second plate of pasta was not enough chill's and was a little overcooked but it was edable. I think we may have chosen a bad day to visit because they were in the middle of renovations, so we will go back and try again. Other people in the outside area seemed to be enjoying the food, so maybe we just had a bad day experience.
Market Harborough needs a fabulous Italian restaurant and this place has the potential to fill this gap, once they finish the building renovations. It was not overly expensive and the menu was extensive but not enough options for vegans or vegetarians, so for me this needs to improve also.
