A few weeks ago I returned from a short vacation in Marbella and wrote about a food experience I am struggling to forget about.
Something so delicious I plan to return in September to eat it again. Not kidding.
The Patatas Bravissima at Soleo a beach restaurant attached to El Fuerte Hotel is something you would return for, a cross between potato and a waffle that I swear if someone made these alone as a street food offering they would be millionaires. Possibly one of the most delicious unique flavour combinations I have ever tried. Absolute magic and if you are close to Marbella you must go and try for yourself.
Well I was in Waitrose and all of a sudden I saw Patatas Bravas jump out at me off the shelf. I immediately purchased. The desire to repeat the flavour sensations from Soleo’s Patatas Bravissima I didn’t even look at the price, probably cost around £4.00, just check on the Waitrose website and they are £5.00 but they didn’t disappoint and are definitely worth it.
They are spiced new potatoes with a sachet of tomato sauce and a sachet of roasted garlic mayonnaise so you don’t get the crispy waffle experience delivered with aplomb at Soleo in Spain but the flavours with the creamy sour cream dressing, which is actually garlic mayonnaise it says are so close it is keeping the pangs at bay until September when I return to eat this unbelievable dish, never before experienced, once again.
Yes it was that good. Thanks Waitrose this No. 1 Patatas Bravas is a very worthy runner up.
