YSL Touché Eclat has been my concealer go to for over 20 years

And yet Kate Moss Beauty Brand Cosmoss didn’t survive

YSL Touché Eclat has been my concealer go to for over 20 years

Cosmoss, the premium skincare and wellness brand, founded by the supermodel Kate Moss has entered liquidation proceedings. The spiritual brand selling a range perfumes, skincare and teas, could be found in luxury retailers Liberty and Fenwicks in the UK with prices ranging from $25 for tea to $155 for Sacred Mist perfume was founded in 2022, by 2025 it’s gone owing about 4 million according to it’s liquidation filing.

And it got me thinking as my Touché Eclat expired and I reached for my phone to buy a new one at £32, something I done for over twenty years what makes us brand loyal and why someone as loved and highly regarded as the iconic Kate Moss, who helped her own make up artist and friend Charlotte Tilbury to mega brand make up status a relative new comer competing with the likes of Dior, Chanel, Estée Lauder and YSL, I remember she even had a nude lipstick named Kate after the super model, why Kate wasn’t able to draw us all into her own brand in exactly the same way.

I believe I would have shopped with Kate, with Cosmoss, the brand was on my radar. I just never got around to it. And yet the YSL touché Eclat I buy religiously, never changing, never even considering an alternative. It’s not because I am loyal to YSL, I don’t use any other YSL product but like the YSL dinner jacket I have hanging in my closet never to be outdone, I got mine way before the likes of Hailey Bieber and stunning Albanian musician Dua Lipa stepped out in theirs, Touché Eclat is the same.

What’s so special about Touché Eclat? I know the shade that works for me and there are many to choose from about a dozen I think so very broad range of colour options I am sure have not hindered it’s longevity appealing to make up lovers with every possible shade of skin and tackling issues like if your skin has pink or yellow tones on the lighter end to purple and blue on the darker end of the spectrum.

Touché Eclat have managed to combine translucent skin like duplication with excellent coverage. As I have aged blemishes, broken capillaries, open pores and a couple of somewhat unsightly age spots have appeared and Touché Eclat has zapped them all disguising them with as much aplomb as it managed to cover my dark circles and puffy eyes after two many late nights in my younger days.

It’s a star product, the jewel in the crown of the YSL make up range. A product if ever discontinued there would be a mutiny from make up wearers around the world. I’d definitely be one of them.

I cannot think of another product certainly in my make up bag I’ve bought consistently for over 30 years. Only once did I try another concealer product, Dior forever skin correct concealer at a slightly more expensive £34.00. I didn’t purchase, a friend gave it to me to try and it was too light for her. It was fine under foundation but ended up being too yellow for me on the days I wanted to wear only concealer.

Touché Eclat from YSL retails at £32 whilst other option from other luxury brands you are looking at £35 - £39 and right now on Look Fantastic website you can find YSL Touché Eclat discounted for £25.60.

The product is an ingenious click dispenser pen which puts the perfect amount on the brush so absolutely no wastage and using everyday I get about 9 months out of one. My last one I’ve had for over a year before I clicked and it didn’t click. How you know it’s done.

I am never changing. I guess this was Kate Moss’s problem with Cosmoss, as a private person who rarely gives interviews she didn’t have the in your face marketing power of say the Kardashians or the subtlety of her friendship that catapulted Charlotte Tilbury into the spotlight and had every whispering, you know she friends with Kate Moss and just being at a make up event to support, drew thousands to see her as she doesn’t step out for just anyone.

But most of all she didn’t have that one killer product that captured the hearts and wallets of consumers around the globe.

For me there’s not a concealer that could touch it, and this of course is probably not true, I am just not prepared to change something I love and has worked for me for over three decades.

Ignore what you may read online about YSL Touche eclat not being a concealer, but an illuminating highlighter pen, I think this description is off the mark and may put a lot of people off. I’ve even read online the product won’t cover dark circles which is not true. It’s covered the worst of late night eye bags and dark circles for me over the years and continues to do so.
