Langans Brasserie

Has thankfully reopened

Langans Brasserie

We thought it was going to be one of the many Covid casualties, we mourned the sausage and mash, I still have a menu in my kitchen stolen back in the days the menus were written every day. It was the place to go. It is the place to go for me.

So what’s it like?

Stiff but not stiff, fun but not, pleasant but rude. It is a one of a kind. When Peter Langham opened the doors almost over 50 years ago now there was always a lock in, not uncommon for some people to get so drunk they were literally under the table, Peter included.

These days it is a much more sedate and controlled (sensible and well oiled machine)

The food is quite heavy, meat, rich sauces, potatoes dripping in butter, not the sort of place you go if you are health nut or on any kind of calorie controlled diet.

Book a table is my advice; don’t expect to spend less that £100 even without wine and try to be downstairs, upstairs is nice but you definitely don’t experience the same atmosphere.

An iconic restaurant so full of memories I am delighted to see them back in full swing.

FYI I had my birthday celebration there a few years back and I don’t know who made my cake, preordered for the party but to this day it was the most delicious out of this world cake I have ever eaten.

Even under the new guidance of restaurateurs Graziano Arricale and James Hitchen Langans is and energy, something everyone should experience at least once in their life.
