Holly HY / 29 May 2025 / Categories: Food & Drink, Coffee Shops, Restaurants The Walton St Cafe where all the stars align Crisp yellow peppers in the freshest of Greek Salads These are my absolute favourite snoops to write. When you imagine the owner or staff stumbling across it online and feeling the warm glow of satisfaction that your business could make someone so happy they take the time to not just tell you but the world as well. This is what happened at the Walton St cafe.Everything was perfect right from the welcome when we arrived. The service wasn’t over the top or fake in anyway but completely 5 star, our waiter quietly went out of his way to deliver exactly what we asked for. The service was outstanding for a very casual and relaxed dining experience. The restaurant, cafe is open for breakfast lunch and dinner. The menu is very simple but extremely well thought out and there were a few things on there we felt like trying. We settled on two Greek salads and chips and the food arrived quickly, fresh and vibrant, as bright as the clear blue sky on a sunshine day.The olives were top notch, the chef had clearly invested in beautiful ingredients for his her hungry customers and the meal was completely balanced and totally delicious. The chips portion we shared and it was generous and definitely big enough for two. We said next time we may order a third salad to add and split or chips each but only because we were hungry and the salad so delicious we polished it off like a pair of starving gannets. Our plates went back to the kitchen without a scrap of food on them.I almost wished a service charge hadn’t been included as I would have been happy to pay more. The wine was luxury too, chosen by the house and it was accompanied by a large carafe of water brimming with ice and slices of fresh cut lemon. The outside patio presented the perfect people watching surrounded by freshly watered geraniums and at 1pm it was standing room only on the dining terrace as service was in full swing. When you step inside you are greeted with the delicious aroma of freshly roasted coffee and the dark walls are contrasted with a collection of incredible black and white photographs from days gone by in the neighbourhood; images so fabulous they make you stop and appreciate. All in all a fantastic and memorable experience, so good we absolutely cannot wait to return. Thanks Walton St Cafe, you just got yourself two new very loyal customers.
