I love Ben and Jerry's because the ice cream is good but mainly because they are a B corporation which means amongst other things they, i.e. The Brand believe the ethics of a business are placed as a higher priority than profit by the management team, that said I am not sure they have a vegan offering.
OK so this review is not for vegans only as I started eating this icecream by choice before I became a vegan, in fact I can safely say this icecream and the vegan chocolate they also do got me thinking seriously about going the whole hog and giving up dairy altogether.
Like all speciality foods the only downside I see is availability as this brand is not available in the supermarket, you can buy online or from smaller retailers and the price as these products are more expensive. However if you are eating a high end equivalent like Haagen Daz or Green and Blacks already the price is about the same.
Now as for the taste, I have given the chocolate icecream my personal favourite to guests both vegan and non vegan and everybody loved it. Both the taste and texture (something non vegans complain about vegan food) is absolutely delicious, rich, creamy and chocolatey everything anyone could wish for from a bowl of chocolate icecream. So if you are looking to reduce your dairy intake, thinking about becoming a vegan but haven't taken the plunge or just want to support a small British brand making simply wonderful products then give these guys a go. Watch out they could easily be the next Innocent in the chocolate and frozen dessert space.
Not many vegetarian farmers around. Family have a small holding in the West Midlands. Never happier than out in nature. Love working out and enjoy a run.
