Bulgari The Vert Eau De Parfum

My signature fragrance since 1990

The name translates to Green Tea. I bought my first bottle in Beverley Hills in Neiman Marcus on Wilshire Boulevard. I was working for a Beverley Hills matchmaker at the time and one of the other matchmakers, the girlfriend of Francis Ford Coppola’s brother Autumn had just treated herself to this wonderful light fragrance from the Bvlgari store on North Rodeo. She’d bought a large bottle at least 150ml in a large beautiful box and as she allowed us all to have a squirt I remember thinking I’d need to make a few sales from our swanky offices on Canon Drive before I was ever getting a bottle of it.

I also remember feeling like a department store would be way easier to navigate than the security guarded Bulgari shop in the heart of Beverley Hills I still haven’t been inside to this day.

The fragrance is light, citrusy, for me feels like home and although I have of course sprayed, been gifted and purchased lots of other fragrances including The Bleu in the same family nothing has pushed The Vert of it’s perch.

My mother wore Madame Rochas when I was young, then she moved to YSL Opium which remained her favourite. My grandmother like more floral scents, lavender and lily of the valley and I remember the first perfume bottle I saw on her dressing table was Floris.

My father introduced me to expensive perfume quite young. I remember receiving a gift of Aqua Di Parma as a child I didn’t really like the smell but it created a lasting memory and funnily enough the brand, obscure for many years that followed had recently enjoyed a rebrand and revival.

If someone asked me what’s your favourite perfume the answer will always be The Vert by Bvlgari. It’s my choice 4 out of 5 time in duty free. It’s definitely light. I think a much better and less like cleaning fluid than say a CK1 or Versace Versense.

Bulgari The Vert comes in three sizes in Eau de parfum, 50ml, 75ml and 150ml and the 75ml retails for around £80.00 and at the moment there’s a special offer in in the UK where through certain retailers like NK Space you get the 75ml Eau de cologne and an extra 10ml small handbag spray in the The Vert Evergreen offer.

Perfume is personal and this one for me has stood the test of time. I have never tired of it. It did almost get bumped for Balenciaga L’edition sur le mer but that got discontinued so I have one bottle I save for absolute special occasions because unless I get very lucky and stumble across a secret stash that’s one that cannot be replaced.
